How to Secure the Gains Afghan Women Have Made By: Matthew Redding | Afghanistan | Nov 21, 2013

Michelle Barsa of the Institute for Inclusive Security  recently spoke at a Congressional hearing on the importance of securing the gains made for Afghan women in the areas of health care, education, justice, and political power. She stressed that the way to do this is through the leadership and participation of women in security institutions.

Inclusive Security has provided the video and transcript of her hearing, along with useful information on various initiatives aimed at protecting the gains of women, their security and the overall transition process. One group working to advance these objectives  is the Alliance in Support of the Afghan People, which consists of both Afghan and US political and human rights leaders.
